About your Instructors:
Vish: Vish began her dance journey at the age of 7 through formal Bharatanatyam training. Her classical training encompasses 10+ years of Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. She choreographed Bollywood and Tollywood dance routines in her teens, and has performed, competed, and placed in both Classical and Bollywood competitions throughout the southern region. Post-graduation, Vish taught Bollywood, Kuthu, Semi-classical, and Bhangra-fusion at Zind Performing Academy, and she now continues to train in various dance styles through The Lion's Den, Bhangra through Mehfil Mitraan Di, and Hip-Hop through The Watchlist . She was a co-director of Khiladis, the all-female national Alumni dance team and regularly hosts dance workshops in D.C. and the northeast region.
Sai: Sai started his dancing career at 18 by joining Maryland Bhangra his freshman year of college at the University of Maryland in the Fall of 2016. Ever since then, he has competed in both the collegiate and independent Bhangra circuits on 2 other collegiate teams and 4 independent teams. When COVID occurred in 2020, he became a Bhangra instructor at Bend It Like Bollywood dance academy in Ellicott City, Maryland, teaching beginner, intermediate, and advanced Bhangra classes to people from ages 5-30. After performing at 6 major exhibitions and competing at 16 competitions, in 2022, Sai founded Mehfil Mitraan Di, an independent, alumni Bhangra team whose namesake translates to “A Gathering of Good Friends.” While simultaneously leading MMD to 2 placings at their first few competitions, he began his judging career and has judged 2 Bhangra competitions so far. Now, Sai begins to expand his dancing vocabulary by taking classes at The Lions Den and dancing with the alumni Bollywood Fusion team, Aluminati.
