Whacking with Kristin Santiago

$35.00

The origin of WHACKING (a club style) is the arm element of Punking which comes from the dictionary definition of the word “WHACK” meaning STRIKE WITH FORCE. Whacking was specifically influenced by the 1960s Batman series where action shots displayed words such as “BOOM” “POW” and “WHACK!” Elements of Punking are WHACKING and POSES.

Vocabulary included in the workshop: arm rolls, overheads and lines.

The workshop will start with an introduction of the history of whacking/waacking, breakdown of fundamentals and technique on the elements of Punking which includes whacking and poses. A combo of drills will be exercised and then have a series of the combinations learned in a pre-choreographed piece to a selected song. Freestyle/Improve will be implemented throughout the class instruction.

Thursday, May 1 at 8PM

Class tickets are non-refundable.
